Islamabad: WhatsApp is introducing a new and exciting feature that seems to be inspired by something straight out of a magical movie, like Harry Potter! The messaging app, owned by Meta, is now allowing users to create “motion photos.”
This new feature is available in WhatsApp’s Android beta version, enabling users to turn still images into motion photos, much like the iPhone’s “Live Photos” feature.
With this feature, a few seconds before and after the photo is taken will be included in the image, and sound can also be added. In simpler terms, this is more like a mini-video where things within the still photo will appear to move.
Using the feature is quite easy. Simply open WhatsApp, go to the gallery, and click the motion icon at the top-left corner to use it and turn your photos into motion pictures.
However, as mentioned earlier, this feature is currently in the beta version and is only available to a limited number of users. For now, if users want to create moving images, they have to rely on third-party apps.
With this new feature, users will be able to create GIFs directly on WhatsApp and share them with friends. While it’s not clear when this feature will be rolled out to all users, it is expected to happen soon.
