CM Punjab emphasizes duty to respect senior citizens

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has described senior citizens as a valuable asset of society, stating that they represent the reflection of our past, the light of our present, and a precious lesson for the future.

In her message, she emphasized that respecting and honoring the elderly is the duty of every individual, and the government is taking comprehensive measures for their welfare and well-being.

Maryam Nawaz said that the elderly are like lamps whose light guides generations, and paid tribute to their sacrifices, experiences, and services. She highlighted that the wisdom and experience of senior citizens are no less than a treasure for society.

She further stated that it is the collective responsibility of society to protect the rights of senior citizens, and that ensuring ease in their lives is a top priority of the Punjab government.

The Chief Minister noted that the government is improving old age homes across Punjab, and proudly shared that some residents have even had the opportunity to perform Hajj.

She also made an appeal to the youth, urging them to respect and serve their elders, and to make this service a guiding principle of their lives. Additionally, she mentioned that the Punjab government is providing free travel for senior citizens in electric buses to facilitate them in their daily lives.
