Islamabad : On the occasion of Holi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his warm wishes to Pakistan’s Hindu community, highlighting the importance of fostering interfaith understanding, protecting places of worship, and promoting respect among all citizens.
In his message, the prime minister said, “Today is an opportunity to recommit ourselves to building a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous Pakistan, guided by values of tolerance, compassion, and solidarity.”
He described Holi as a celebration that reflects social harmony through its colorful festivities and symbolizes the country’s diverse cultural heritage. Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the Hindu community’s vital role in strengthening social unity, contributing to economic progress, and supporting a climate of peaceful coexistence.
The prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees freedom of religion and safeguards the rights of every citizen, irrespective of their race, color, religion, or belief. He emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of minority communities.
Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted government initiatives aimed at reinforcing these principles, including the Policy for Interfaith Harmony (2025) and the Strategy for Religious Tolerance (2025).
