US response to Iran’s peace proposal transmitted via Pakistan, says Tehran

Tehran/Islamabad : Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions are reportedly gaining traction, as the United States has formally shared its response to Iran’s 14-point peace proposal through Islamabad, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told reporters that Tehran has received the US reply and that it is currently under detailed review by experts.

He explained that Iran’s 14-point initiative is centered on ending ongoing regional conflicts and promoting lasting peace and stability.

Baghaei clarified that the ongoing exchanges are not linked to Iran’s nuclear programme or any nuclear negotiations, stressing that the focus remains strictly on de-escalation and conflict resolution in the region.

Diplomatic sources said Pakistan is serving as an important communication channel between Tehran and Washington due to the lack of direct diplomatic contact between the two sides.

The fact that the US response was routed through Islamabad is being seen as an indication of trust in Pakistan’s role as a facilitator in regional diplomacy.
