Rawalpindi : Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, met with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on a range of matters of mutual concern, including regional security developments, bilateral defence ties, and avenues for expanding military cooperation between Pakistan and Libya.
During the discussions, both leaders expressed their resolve to further strengthen defence relations through enhanced collaboration in military training, professional engagements, and other security-related areas.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting peace, stability, and constructive partnerships with friendly countries across the region.
Lieutenant General Haftar commended the high standards of professionalism and operational readiness demonstrated by Pakistan’s armed forces. He also appreciated their contributions towards maintaining regional peace and security.
Earlier, upon his arrival at GHQ, the Libyan military commander was received with full military honours, including a Guard of Honour presented by a ceremonial contingent representing Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force.
