ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Islamabad’s full support for Iran’s right to maintain a civilian nuclear program.
Speaking during his visit to Tehran, PM Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan and Iran will continue working together on matters of mutual interest and cooperation.
The two leaders held productive talks focusing on expanding political, economic, and international collaboration between the neighboring countries.
Enhancing Bilateral Relations and Regional Peace
During the meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of boosting bilateral trade and investment, aiming to reach a $10 billion target. Both sides agreed to implement previously signed agreements and deepen cooperation in various fields, including trade, economy, and security.
Pakistan expressed readiness to engage in dialogue with India to promote peace and resolve longstanding issues, including Kashmir, through diplomatic channels aligned with United Nations resolutions.
The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression, while extending a sincere offer to India to hold talks on key regional concerns such as water sharing, trade, and counter-terrorism efforts.
Solidarity and Regional Stability
Pakistan condemned the ongoing violence in Palestine and called on the international community to act swiftly to bring about a ceasefire.
PM Shehbaz assured Iran of Pakistan’s unwavering support for regional peace, progress, and prosperity.
The Iranian President echoed the sentiment, stressing the importance of secure borders and cooperation to combat terrorism and criminal activities.
Both leaders stressed the need for dialogue and mutual understanding among neighboring countries to ensure peace and stability in the region.
They agreed that collaboration on shared challenges, including the Palestinian issue, should remain a top priority.
The visit was marked by a warm reception and a ceremonial guard of honor, reflecting the strong historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Iran.
