ISLAMABAD: Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is preparing for his upcoming engagement to the daughter of Usman Javed, who is closely related to the Sharif family.
The marriage proposal was recently finalized during a family gathering held in Lahore, confirming the union within this prominent political family.
The arrangement marks an important step in continuing the familial ties of the Sharif dynasty, reinforcing bonds between influential members.
Engagement Details and Family Gathering
According to reliable family sources, the marriage alliance was confirmed after a formal meeting between key members of the Sharif family, including Nawaz Sharif himself, Maryam Nawaz, and Javed Shafi, Usman Javed’s father.
The meeting took place at Nawaz Sharif’s residence in Model Town, Lahore, where the families agreed on moving forward with the engagement plans.

While the exact dates for the nikah and engagement ceremonies are yet to be decided, both families are reportedly enthusiastic and working closely to finalize these details soon.
Junaid Safdar’s Background and Personal Life
This upcoming engagement will be Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. Previously, he was married to Ayesha Saif, daughter of Qatar-based businessman Saifur Rehman Khan.
Their wedding took place in London in 2021, during Nawaz Sharif’s exile, but the couple amicably divorced in October 2023. Junaid returned to Pakistan shortly after, lending support to his mother in her political endeavors.
Junaid is an academically accomplished individual, holding multiple degrees from esteemed UK institutions.
His educational journey includes a master’s in International Relations from the London School of Economics and another master’s in Global Governance and Ethics from University College London. In addition, he earned a first-class honours degree in Politics from Durham University and later graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2022. Outside academics, Junaid is also passionate about polo and has represented various British universities in multiple competitions.
