ISLAMABAD: A powerful Iranian missile strike near Tel Aviv’s military nerve centre has sparked renewed doubts over the effectiveness of Israel’s air-defence systems.
Several ballistic missiles reportedly evaded interception and caused direct hits, leading to civilian casualties and property damage.
The target included the high-security Kirya district, home to Israel’s Ministry of Defence and central military command.
Growing Concerns Over Air Defence Reliability
Despite the Iron Dome and other missile defence systems engaging incoming threats, eyewitnesses and official reports confirm that several warheads penetrated the defence net.
Footage from the area revealed intercepted projectiles in the skies over cities like Ashkelon, yet explosions were still recorded in central Tel Aviv.
This has prompted serious questions about whether these systems can handle the scale and precision of newer missile threats.
Iran Responds to Israeli Offensive
Iran’s attack followed what Tehran claims was an unprecedented Israeli offensive inside Iranian territory.
Israeli jets and drones reportedly struck Iranian military and nuclear facilities in what is being called the largest such operation in recent years.
Iran’s retaliation appears calculated to send a strong message, aiming at the heart of Israeli military infrastructure without launching a full-scale war.
