Beijing: Ambassador Khalil Hashmi conducted an orientation visit to China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening multifaceted cooperation with this vibrant provincial-level region. The visit featured substantive dialogues and offered valuable insights into Inner Mongolia’s rich cultural heritage, economic strengths, and ecological advancements.
During his stay, Ambassador Hashmi met with Governor Wang Lixia to explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration in key areas such as renewable energy, livestock development, ecological restoration, and people-to-people exchanges. The Ambassador also held discussions with senior officials from the Inner Mongolia Foreign Affairs Office to facilitate the implementation of agreements reached between the Governor and himself.
A highlight of the visit was the Ambassador’s chairing of two focused B2B roundtable sessions with leading enterprises from Inner Mongolia. These discussions emphasized the region’s capabilities in steel production, copper mining, deep refining, agriculture, and animal husbandry. Ambassador Hashmi provided a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s investment environment, policy facilitation, and special incentives. He invited the participants to engage in upcoming bilateral investment events, including the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference scheduled in Beijing this September, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit.
The programme also included visits to Honder College of Arts and Sciences, the Inner Mongolia Museum, and the dairy facilities of Yili Group, highlighting shared interests in expanding academic, cultural, and commercial ties. At Honder College, the Ambassador paid tribute to the longstanding Pakistan-China friendship in the “Masood Khan Hall” and observed cutting-edge research at the Rock Art Research Center.
In the field of ecological cooperation, Ambassador Hashmi observed desertification control projects, including innovative land restoration efforts by Mengcao company, and discussed the potential application of such initiatives to support Pakistan’s green development and climate resilience goals.
Concluding the visit, the Ambassador engaged with local media, praising Inner Mongolia’s impressive progress under China’s vision of Ecological Civilization and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to close collaboration with the region in advancing shared objectives within the framework of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
