Narowal: The historic Kartarpur Gurdwara, which was submerged following recent floods caused by Indian water aggression, has now been fully cleaned and restored. Authorities have announced that the gurdwara will be reopened to Sikh pilgrims within the next 3 to 4 days.
On the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, teams from the “Suthra Punjab” initiative, along with rescue workers and officials from various agencies, worked tirelessly to clear debris and remove water from the premises. The entire complex, including the holy birthplace (Janam Asthan) and Darshan Deori, has been meticulously cleaned.
Deputy Commissioner of Nankana Sahib personally visited the site to supervise the restoration efforts, ensuring that the expansive courtyard was thoroughly drained and sanitized.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed that the gurdwara be ready for Sikh pilgrims within 3 to 4 days, allowing them to once again visit this sacred site.
The gurdwara had been submerged under 10 to 12 feet of water due to the flooding, which occurred in the wake of the recent rains. During the flooding, rescue teams used motorboats to evacuate Sikh pilgrims, safely relocating them to higher ground.
With the completion of the restoration work, both the administrators and visitors are delighted and amazed at how the sacred site has been brought back to its original glory.
