Instagram trials new menu layout with changes to tab organization

California: Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, recently shared that the platform is testing a new menu layout, which involves reorganizing several key tabs. The new design includes dedicated tabs for popular features such as Reels and Direct Messages (DMs).

According to reports from international news agencies, the new menu bar will swap the Search tab with a Reels tab, while the Reels tab will now serve as the new Search tab. Similarly, the tab for creating posts will be relocated to where the DMs tab used to be.

In this trial phase, Meta is also providing users with the option to switch between the Reels and DMs tabs easily. Currently, this layout change is being tested on an optional basis, meaning users can revert to the old design if they prefer it.

The test highlights that it might take some time for users to adjust to the rearranged tabs, and Meta is introducing the change gradually to allow a smoother transition.
