CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz announces honorary cards for imams

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that “Chief Minister’s Honorary Card for Imams” will be issued to all Imams (priests) across the province. A deadline for the issuance of these cards has been set for February 2026.

The Chief Minister stated that starting January 1, Imams will receive their honorarium for the first time through pay orders, and from February 1, these payments will be made via the honorary card. During the meeting, it was informed that registration forms for 62,994 Imams from across Punjab have been received, and the verification process is underway.

The meeting also decided that Imams involved in activities against the country and the nation, or those implicated in financial or moral crimes, will have their honorarium immediately suspended. Additionally, mosque and tehsil management committees will be established across the province, and Assistant Commissioners have been directed to hold monthly meetings with Imams.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister issued instructions for continued combing operations in sensitive areas, the protection of Safe City cameras, monitoring of individuals listed on the Fourth Schedule (criminals), and actions against illegal Afghan nationals.
