Riyadh : Saudi Arabia has awarded its highest national honor, the King Abdulaziz Medal Excellent Class, to Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in recognition of his pivotal role in enhancing defence cooperation, strategic coordination, and institutional ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
A press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the medal was presented to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir by Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, during his official visit to the Kingdom.
The award of the King Abdulaziz Medal underscores the strong and enduring relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing their shared resolve to strengthen strategic cooperation for regional and global peace. It also highlights Field Marshal Munir’s significant contributions to regional peace and stability, particularly in counter-terrorism and security efforts.
During his official visit, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with Prince Khalid bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister. The two sides discussed a wide range of topics, including regional security dynamics, defence collaboration, strategic partnerships, and the evolving geopolitical challenges both nations face.
The meeting further reinforced the deep-rooted, historic, and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The Saudi leadership expressed their admiration for Field Marshal Asim Munir’s professionalism and strategic foresight, praising his dedication to strengthening the long-standing ties between the two countries.
Field Marshal Asim Munir, in turn, thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi leadership for the honor, describing it as a reflection of the deep and enduring bond between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the security, stability, and prosperity of the Kingdom.
