Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has concluded the technical assessment of bids for two additional franchises in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL). According to a statement from the PCB, the board received a total of 12 bids, with 10 deemed eligible after a comprehensive review.
These 10 eligible bidders will now proceed to the auction, which is scheduled to take place on January 8, 2026, at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. Successful bidders will be able to select a city from Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, or Sialkot to represent their team.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer congratulated the shortlisted bidders and expressed excitement over the strong interest shown by both domestic and international investors. He noted that the HBL PSL’s expansion is a major milestone, and further details about the auction will be provided soon.
The expansion of the PSL with new teams is seen as a promising step forward, further cementing the league’s position as a major force in international cricket. The PCB is optimistic that this development will contribute to the continued success of the tournament.
