PTA urges caution on social media amid ‘critical national situation’

Islamabad : Amid the current sensitive national climate, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has called on the public to exercise caution and responsibility while engaging on social media platforms and other online forums.

In an official release, the authority warned against sharing, posting, or circulating unverified, inflammatory, or misleading information, stressing that such content could undermine national interests, disturb public peace, and tarnish the reputation of state institutions.

The PTA highlighted that the circulation of false or inaccurate information during critical times can trigger unnecessary panic and social instability. Citizens were urged to consult only authentic sources and verified information before posting online.

Furthermore, the regulator encouraged the public to contribute positively to the digital space by promoting factual content and refraining from spreading rumours or fabricated reports. It also cautioned that anyone found disseminating false information may face legal consequences under relevant laws.

The PTA concluded by urging the nation to act with prudence, awareness, and civic responsibility to maintain public trust and national stability during these challenging circumstances.
