Islamabad : The federal government has announced the implementation of a four-day workweek for all government offices, effective immediately.
According to directives issued by the Cabinet Division, federal offices will now operate from Monday to Thursday, while Friday and Saturday will be observed as official holidays under the revised schedule.
As part of the new arrangements, officers in federal and provincial institutions who hold Grade-20 positions or earn a monthly salary exceeding Rs 300,000 have been requested to voluntarily accept a two-day salary deduction. This initiative is aimed at aligning compensation with the reduced working days while maintaining operational efficiency.
The Cabinet Division clarified that the new four-day schedule will not apply to employees in the health and education sectors, ensuring that essential services continue uninterrupted.
Officials have been instructed to implement the revised working week promptly and ensure smooth functioning during the transition period.
