Iran confirms strait of Hormuz open for commercial shipping during ceasefire

Tehran : Iran has officially confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open for commercial shipping for the entire duration of the current ceasefire, ensuring that maritime trade through the strategic waterway continues without disruption.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that all merchant vessels, regardless of origin, will be allowed safe and unrestricted passage through the Strait of Hormuz. This move comes as part of Iran’s commitment to maintaining stability in regional shipping lanes and supporting international trade during the ceasefire period.

In a statement posted on social media, Araghchi highlighted that the decision follows the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and is aimed at facilitating uninterrupted global commerce. He underlined that the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints, will remain fully operational for commercial traffic, providing reassurance to shipping companies and global markets.

Analysts say this step could help ease tensions in the region and prevent potential disruptions in oil and trade shipments, which are vital for the global economy. By keeping the waterway open, Iran signals both compliance with international expectations during the truce and a commitment to safeguarding regional trade routes.
