Pakistan urges just resolution of Kashmir issue during UN debate

New York : Pakistan has stated that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Annual Report 2025 underscores the continued significance of unresolved global disputes, with particular reference to the situations in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly during the presentation of the Security Council’s annual review, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said the report highlights that these long-standing issues remain a key concern for the international community.

He noted that sustainable peace and stability in South Asia are directly linked to the peaceful and just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

The ambassador emphasized that any settlement must align with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and uphold the wishes of the Kashmiri people. He reiterated that Kashmiris must be allowed to determine their own political future, in accordance with commitments made by the international community.

He further reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, stressing the right of Palestinians to self-determination.

He called for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
