Islamabad : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday congratulated Spain on winning the FIFA World Cup 2026, describing the team’s success as well-earned and commending the players for their exceptional talent, discipline, teamwork, and consistent performances throughout the tournament.
In a message posted on X, the prime minister also congratulated US President Donald Trump and the American people for successfully hosting the tournament, praising the smooth organisation and high standard of arrangements.
He further acknowledged the contributions of Canada and Mexico, appreciating the commitment of both governments and their people in co-hosting the global football event and helping ensure its success.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also praised FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the FIFA administration for their efforts in delivering a world-class tournament. He said their dedication had further strengthened football’s status as one of the most popular and widely followed sports across the globe.
Highlighting the broader significance of the event, the prime minister said the FIFA World Cup once again demonstrated how sport can unite people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds while promoting mutual understanding and global solidarity.
