Pakistan, Qatar vow to expand security cooperation for regional peace

Doha: Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the security sector, improve coordination between their interior ministries, and jointly contribute to regional peace and stability.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Qatar’s Interior Minister and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in Doha.

During the high-level talks, both sides discussed ways to expand collaboration in various security-related areas and reviewed steps to enhance their strategic partnership. The two ministers stressed the importance of stronger institutional ties between their interior ministries to effectively tackle shared security challenges.

The discussions also covered the changing regional environment and broader security developments, with both leaders highlighting that closer cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar would help promote peace, stability, and collective security.

Both countries agreed to increase collaboration on internal security matters, reflecting their growing strategic relationship and mutual commitment to addressing emerging challenges.

Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan remains committed to enhancing security cooperation with Qatar along with expanding collaboration in other fields of common interest. He said stronger institutional coordination would further strengthen the historic friendship and close ties between the two nations.

Naqvi also expressed condolences to his Qatari counterpart over the death of his father, former Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. He appreciated the late leader’s significant role in Qatar’s development and modernization, saying his contributions helped transform the country into an influential regional and international player.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to its longstanding relationship with Pakistan, stressing that Doha highly values bilateral ties and seeks to further broaden cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
