Tehran : Iran has strongly condemned the latest sanctions imposed by the United States, with Iranian officials warning that Washington’s renewed pressure campaign will fail to force Tehran into submission or alter its position.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the US decision to return to economic sanctions after previously resorting to military action as a reflection of what he called American frustration.
According to Araghchi, the United States has already employed a range of measures to pressure Iran, but those efforts have failed to produce the results Washington was seeking. He argued that repeating the same approach would not change Tehran’s stance.
The Iranian foreign minister said previous military attacks and blockades had failed to achieve their objectives and maintained that the latest sanctions would face a similar outcome. He suggested that Washington’s continued reliance on punitive measures showed its inability to accomplish its goals through other means.
Araghchi also stressed that Iran would not be intimidated by external pressure or threats. He said Tehran had never surrendered to such measures and would continue to defend what it considers its national interests.
He further made clear that Iran would not accept demands imposed through coercion, economic restrictions or intimidation, reiterating Tehran’s opposition to Washington’s pressure-based approach.
At the same time, Araghchi called on the United States to pursue direct engagement with Iran through dialogue founded on mutual respect. He said meaningful negotiations could provide both sides with an opportunity to address their differences and work towards a mutually acceptable solution.
The Iranian foreign minister maintained that balanced and respectful negotiations offered a more constructive route to resolving disputes than sanctions or military pressure. He said any lasting agreement should be based on fairness, mutual respect and recognition of the interests of both countries.
Araghchi’s comments came in response to the latest American sanctions and underscored Tehran’s continued opposition to Washington’s use of economic restrictions as a tool to influence Iranian policy.
Iran has consistently maintained that sanctions and pressure will not force it to abandon its position. Tehran has instead emphasised diplomacy and negotiations as the preferred means of addressing outstanding disputes.
The latest statements indicate that Iran intends to withstand the new US measures while keeping the possibility of negotiations open, provided that any future dialogue is conducted on the basis of dignity, equality and mutual respect.
