By-election results expose false popularity claims, public mandate is clear: CM Maryam Nawaz

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that public support is the core foundation of any electoral process, and when the people are with you, boycotting elections is never the solution. She stated that if there are allegations of election rigging, they should be brought forward, rather than resorting to a narrative of boycott after defeat.

Addressing a special meeting with provincial ministers and secretaries, she pointed out that the recent by-elections clearly demonstrated that the public’s decision was based on performance. She described the elections as not just a contest but a reflection of the public’s trust.

Maryam Nawaz further stated that performance is always the strongest narrative. She criticized PTI for boycotting the elections in Punjab while participating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where they were also rejected by the people. She added that the campaign run on the support of “Prisoner Number 804” failed to succeed.

The Chief Minister concluded that the victory in the by-elections was a direct result of the performance, public service, and trust of the people, dedicating the success to Nawaz Sharif and the people of both provinces, affirming that voters prioritize practical work over rhetoric.
