Karachi: Following the recovery of the body of renowned model and actress Humaira Asghar and the refusal of her family to claim the body, the Sindh government has decided to arrange her funeral at the official level. Sindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah stated that the deceased is not orphaned; rather, the Sindh government is her guardian and will ensure her burial is conducted with dignity and respect.
According to sources, the Culture Minister expressed deep sorrow over this unfortunate incident and immediately contacted the Additional IG Karachi to seek cooperation for the release of the body. A formal letter has been sent by the Secretary of Culture Sindh to the DIG South, requesting that after completion of legal procedures, the body be handed over to the Culture Department.
The Minister said that if Humaira Asghar’s parents or close relatives do not claim the body, the Sindh government, particularly the Culture Department, will take full responsibility for the burial arrangements. The Director General of Culture has been appointed as the focal person to oversee all related processes in a coordinated manner.
He further clarified that the selection of the cemetery, funeral rites, and other administrative arrangements will be carried out under the supervision of the Sindh government. He emphasized,
“We will not leave any citizen alone in their final journey, no matter how socially isolated they may be
