ETS Booth at Thokar Niaz Baig Closed — New Location to Be Announced Soon

ISLAMABAD: The Environment Protection and Climate Change Department has officially closed the Emission Testing System (ETS) booth located at Metro Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore, citing technical reasons.

An official notification issued on Friday stated that a replacement booth would be announced in the near future.

Citizens who need immediate guidance regarding emission testing are advised to contact the department’s helpline at 1373 for further assistance.

The department emphasized its commitment to maintaining clean air standards and assured the public that operations would resume soon at a new location.

Free ETS Deadline Extended in Lahore

This closure comes just days after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz granted an extension for the free ETS facility in Lahore.

Originally scheduled to end on June 30, the free emissions testing service will now continue until August 31, 2025.

The extension provides additional time for vehicle owners to get their motorcycles, cars, and other vehicles tested without incurring any cost.

The ETS initiative is a key step toward combating increasing vehicular pollution in Lahore and improving air quality in the city.

Officials have confirmed that once the extended deadline ends, all emissions tests will be conducted at authorized dealerships for a standard fee of Rs. 400 per vehicle.

Public Urged to Use Alternative ETS Booths

While the Thokar Niaz Baig booth remains non-operational, citizens are encouraged to visit other ETS booths operating across Lahore.

Authorities have asked the public to remain alert for updates on the new booth location and to continue supporting the initiative for a cleaner, healthier city.
