Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif convened a crucial meeting to address the issue of illegal wheat hoarding in the province. During the session, she announced a tough stance against those involved in unlawful stockpiling of wheat.
All flour mills, traders, and storage operators have been given a three-day ultimatum to disclose their current wheat inventories. After this deadline, authorities will initiate immediate and stringent legal proceedings against offenders.
In response to recent flooding, the Chief Minister dismissed the Director General of the Food Department for failing to secure wheat stocks in safe locations, highlighting accountability in disaster management.
Maryam Nawaz also emphasized rigorous monitoring of wheat supply chains and pricing to safeguard the public from shortages and inflation, ensuring food security for the people of Punjab.
