Mohali: Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, the celebrated comedian and actor who brought laughter to millions through Punjabi cinema, has died at the age of 65 following a brain stroke. He was receiving treatment at Fortis Hospital in Mohali and passed away on Friday morning.
Starting his illustrious career with the comedy album Chankata 88 in 1988, Bhalla’s sharp wit and memorable performances made him a stalwart of Punjabi entertainment. His roles in popular films such as Carry On Jatta, Bhaji in Problem, Manje Bistre, and Jatt & Juliet earned him a cherished place in the hearts of audiences.
Bhalla’s funeral will take place on August 23 at the Balongi Cremation Ground in Mohali. His passing has sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes from prominent figures in both the artistic and political arenas across India.
