Punjabi Lyrics Create Buzz Ahead of Song Release

While fans were already eagerly awaiting “Sapphire,” set for official release on June 5, it was the inclusion of Punjabi lyrics that truly set the internet abuzz.

In the video, Sheeran joyfully sings as he waves to onlookers, sharing high-fives with fans, and fully immersing himself in the local culture.

The song, with its blend of Indian sounds and Sheeran’s signature acoustic style, has sparked excitement not only among his Indian fans but also music lovers around the world.

“Riding around the streets of India, missing high-fives. Sapphire out June 5th, 8:30am ET / 1:30pm BST / 6pm IST,” Sheeran captioned the post.

New Album Inspired by Culture and Personal Growth

Sheeran also shared that Sapphire is part of his upcoming album Play, which he described as a tribute to joy, healing, and cultural exploration. “Play was an album that was made as a direct response to the darkest period of my life,” he wrote. “Coming out of all of that, I just wanted to create joy and technicolour, and explore cultures in the countries I was touring.”

The artist’s time in India seems to have left a lasting impression on him, as he combines western melodies with Punjabi beats — a fusion that fans hope to hear more of in the new album.
