Fake ‘Zamzam’ Factory Busted in Sharjah

ISLAMABAD: Sharjah authorities have uncovered a fake Zamzam water factory operating out of a residential property, arresting the individual behind the illegal scheme.

The accused was found bottling ordinary water and marketing it fraudulently as the sacred Zamzam water, deceiving consumers and misusing the trust associated with this holy product.

The operation was discovered after a thorough investigation exposed the unlawful activity, leading to a crackdown on this fraudulent enterprise.

Details of the Fraudulent Operation

During the raid, officials seized numerous bottles labeled as Zamzam water, cartons, and equipment used for packaging and labeling.

Investigators revealed that the accused not only misrepresented ordinary water as Zamzam but also used the name of a legitimate licensed water trading company to lend credibility to the scam and facilitate financial fraud. The authorities have revoked the license of the implicated company and referred the case to Sharjah Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Public Advisory and Broader Context

Authorities urge the public to exercise caution when purchasing Zamzam water and to avoid unlicensed sellers, especially those advertising products on social media platforms.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities by contacting the municipality’s call center at 993.

The Ministry of Interior warns that those performing Hajj without permits face deportation and a 10-year ban on re-entry, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to orderly and safe pilgrimage arrangements.
