Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – A powerful bomb explosion near the Assistant Commissioner’s vehicle in the Saddiqabad Phatak area of Tehsil Khar, Bajaur district, resulted in the deaths of five people, including the Assistant Commissioner Nawagai, Faisal Ismail, and the Tehsildar Abdul Wakeel. Sixteen others were injured and rushed to Khar Hospital for medical treatment.
According to DPO Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq, the blast targeted a government vehicle on Naugai Road. Security forces have heightened alertness in the area, and rescue operations are underway.
CCTV footage of the attack near the AC’s vehicle was obtained by Aaj News, shedding light on the incident’s circumstances.
Funeral prayers for the martyrs, including the Assistant Commissioner, were held at the Civil Colony Police Lines in Khar, attended by Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, DPO, officials, and family members. The fallen also include Constable Zahid and pedestrian Fazal Mannan, and they were honored with a salute by the Bajaur police.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Condemns Attack
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. He vowed that terrorists targeting defenseless civilians will not be forgiven under any circumstances. He prayed for the departed souls and extended condolences to their families, while also urging swift recovery for the injured and directed that they be provided with all possible medical care.
