University of Alberta Fully Funded Graduate Scholarship 2026

The University of Alberta Graduate Scholarship offers fully funded Master’s and PhD opportunities for international students to study at one of Canada’s top universities.

Scholarship Overview:

  • Coverage: Full tuition fees, living stipends, travel costs, and research expenses

Research Focus:

This scholarship is hosted by the Plant Biotechnology Lab, Faculty of Agricultural, Life, and Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta. Research projects focus on:

  • Metabolic engineering of yeast for value-added bioproducts

  • Improving crop productivity and sustainability via canola hybrid breeding

Candidates will engage in:

  • Gene family analysis (in silico)

  • Plant genetic transformation

  • Phenotypic and physiological evaluation of transgenic plants

  • Molecular characterization and genetic analysis

Eligibility Criteria:

  • MSc applicants: Bachelor’s degree in biology or related discipline

  • PhD applicants: Master’s degree in plant molecular biology or related field

  • Enrollment in University of Alberta’s MSc or PhD program

  • Strong background in plant molecular biology (PhD candidates should have tissue culture & transformation experience)

  • Preferred knowledge: Computational analysis of gene/protein sequences

  • Minimum GPA: 3.3

  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and international students
