Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announces expulsion of illegal Afghan nationals as top priority

Lahore:  Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stated that the expulsion of illegal Afghan nationals is the government’s top priority, and Afghan citizens can no longer be considered guests in Pakistan. Speaking to the media in Lahore, he revealed that solid evidence links Afghan nationals to several recent terrorist incidents in the country, making it clear that illegal residency will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Naqvi confirmed that the three individuals responsible for the attack on FC personnel were Afghan, as was the attacker involved in the Islamabad district court bombing. He emphasized, “We can’t afford more explosions,” which is why the process of repatriating Afghan nationals is being expedited. He further warned that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to re-enter Pakistan after their expulsion.

The Interior Minister also announced that Afghan refugee camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were being shut down, and the federal government’s decisions would be fully implemented. He urged the Afghan Taliban government to take effective measures against terrorist groups operating within their territory.

Naqvi expressed concern over the spread of false information on social media, labeling 90% of such reports as inaccurate. He assured that a strong crackdown would be launched against such activities, and individuals spreading rumors about national security would face legal consequences. He also mentioned that those spreading propaganda against Pakistan’s institutions from abroad would be brought back to face accountability.

He clarified that while freedom of expression is respected, fake news and defamation would not be tolerated.
