Pakistan, Turkiye Agree to Boost Trade Ties

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have agreed to accelerate efforts aimed at enhancing trade and investment between Pakistan and Turkiye.

The understanding was reached during a recent phone call between the two leaders, during which they exchanged Eidul Azha greetings and reaffirmed their countries’ historic and brotherly ties.

According to state broadcaster PTV News, the conversation highlighted their commitment to fast-tracking key decisions made during recent high-level engagements.

Mutual Support and Strategic Alignment

PM Shehbaz expressed his gratitude to President Erdogan for Turkiye’s strong support during Pakistan’s recent military standoff with India.

He described the gesture as a heartwarming display of solidarity that further strengthened bilateral ties.
The prime minister emphasized that such unwavering backing from Ankara had deeply resonated with the people of Pakistan.

The leaders also reiterated their unflinching support for each other on matters of core national interest.
They discussed current global and regional developments, including the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Focus on Economic Cooperation

During their call, both leaders underscored the importance of accelerating trade and investment initiatives.

They reviewed outcomes from previous meetings held in Istanbul and Lachin and agreed to translate commitments into actionable plans.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said that these decisions would significantly enhance economic cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

PTV reported that the discussions were described as “warm and most cordial” by both sides.
