ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will begin deactivating SIM cards registered under deceased individuals starting June 30.
This initiative uses data provided by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to identify SIMs linked to deceased persons.
The move aims to prevent misuse of these SIM cards in fraudulent activities and crimes.
By blocking such SIMs, PTA intends to enhance security and protect citizens from identity-related offenses.
The authority has urged the public to update their information and report any discrepancies in SIM ownership.
This step is part of broader efforts to tighten telecom regulations and curb illegal usage of mobile services.
