Islamabad: At least 12 people were martyred and numerous others injured in a suicide bombing near the G-11 sector court in Islamabad on Tuesday afternoon.
The explosion occurred at approximately 12:30 PM, targeting a vehicle that was parked in the area. The blast was so intense that its sound could be heard from a considerable distance. The force of the explosion caused the vehicle to burst into flames, spreading to nearby parked cars as well.
Among those wounded were lawyers and civilians, all of whom were promptly taken to PIMS Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Officials confirmed that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, and the bomber’s head was recovered from the blast site.
Preliminary investigations suggest the involvement of an Indian-backed group and an Afghan Taliban-affiliated faction called “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
Security sources mentioned that there were a large number of people in the court area at the time of the explosion, which contributed to the heavy civilian casualties.
In response to the attack, police and security forces quickly sealed off the area. Efforts are ongoing to fully assess the damage caused by the explosion.
Medical teams continue to treat the injured, while law enforcement agencies are conducting a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators and uncover the details of the attack.
