Washington / Islamabad :The United States has officially designated the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its affiliate, the Majeed Brigade, as global terrorist organizations.
In a statement issued by the U.S. State Department, it was announced that both groups have been added to the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) due to their involvement in violent activities and threats to regional stability.
The State Department emphasized that the decision reflects Washington’s continued commitment to counterterrorism and aims to disrupt the financial and operational networks of groups that engage in acts of terror.
“These designations will impose strict financial and travel restrictions and criminal penalties on those supporting these groups,” the statement said.
The BLA and Majeed Brigade have been involved in multiple deadly attacks within Pakistan, often targeting security personnel, state infrastructure, and foreign nationals, including Chinese workers.
Pakistani authorities have welcomed the U.S. move, calling it a validation of Pakistan’s long-standing stance against groups involved in terrorism and separatist violence.
