Punjab govt approves ban on TLP, summary sent to federal govt

Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has announced that the provincial cabinet has approved a ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), and the summary regarding the decision has been forwarded to the federal government.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, she emphasized that the government prioritizes the protection of public life, property, and law and order. She further stated that any group resorting to violence will not be tolerated by the state.

Bukhari condemned the protest call made in the name of Gaza, stating that there was no justification for the demonstration, especially after a peace agreement. She highlighted that blocking roads, attacking police, and damaging public property under the guise of protest were unacceptable actions.

She also revealed that in the recent protests led by the religious group, 1,648 police officers were injured, which she said proved that these demonstrations were not peaceful.

Azma Bukhari thanked the business community and the public for rejecting the call for protests and strikes, praising the Pakistani people for their awareness and resistance to extremist narratives.
