Islamabad: During the hearing of a case related to the violation of seniority rules in the Ministry of Science and Technology, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court expressed deep concern over the promotion and appointment systems in government institutions.
Justice Kayani remarked, “Where the seniority rule has been violated, problems have arisen. The entire system has been ruined.” He further added, “Some promote their favored officers, while others rely on family connections for recommendations.”
The court clarified that violating the seniority principle not only causes injustice but also negatively impacts the performance of institutions. Justice Kayani emphasized, “It is the department’s responsibility to correct its mistakes. There is no punishment for mistakes, but bad faith certainly deserves punishment.”
During the hearing, the court directed government departments to adhere to rules and regulations, postponing the next hearing of the case until the scheduled date.
