White House imposes new restrictions on journalists’ access

Washington:  The White House has imposed new restrictions on journalists’ access, requiring prior approval to enter the press room and the offices of senior officials.

Under the new policy, access to the “Upper Press Room” will only be allowed by appointment, and no journalist or media organization will be granted special exceptions. The White House stated that the goal of these measures is to protect sensitive information and enhance security.

This decision comes at a time when similar access restrictions were also implemented at the Pentagon last month, which led to strong reactions from the U.S. media. Critics argue that these measures could raise concerns about press freedom and government transparency, while the administration maintains that they are necessary for improving security.
