Security forces kill 8 Indian-backed terrorists in Bannu operation: ISPR

Bannu: In a significant counter-terrorism operation, security forces have successfully killed 8 militants associated with an Indian-backed proxy group in the Bannu region. The operation, which took place in the early hours of the morning, was a targeted move aimed at neutralizing a group of terrorists planning to disrupt peace and stability in the area.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the killed terrorists were found in possession of a large cache of weapons and ammunition. These weapons included rifles, explosives, and other military-grade equipment that the militants had planned to use to create chaos within the country.

The security forces, acting on intelligence reports, had tracked the movements of the terrorist group and launched the operation at a strategically important location in Bannu. The militants had been part of a larger network believed to be working under the direction of Indian intelligence agencies, according to military sources. They were reportedly plotting to launch attacks and stir unrest, potentially targeting key infrastructure and public spaces.

The Pakistani military emphasized that the quick and precise action taken by security forces had successfully thwarted the terrorists’ plans, preventing what could have been a devastating series of attacks. The operation was carried out with minimal collateral damage, ensuring that civilian lives and property remained unharmed.

RPO Bannu, Colonel Asim Khan, praised the coordination between various intelligence and security agencies, which led to the successful elimination of the terrorist group. He noted that the terrorist group had been actively operating in the region and had been involved in several previous incidents of violence, aimed at destabilizing the area.

The ISPR further added that such operations are part of a broader strategy to dismantle the networks of cross-border terrorism and eliminate any threats posed by foreign-backed militant groups operating on Pakistani soil.

Security forces have vowed to continue their efforts in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of citizens, particularly in areas like Bannu, which have seen sporadic terrorist activities in the past. The authorities also appealed to the local population to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help prevent future attacks.

This operation comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Pakistani military to neutralize foreign-backed terrorist cells and prevent any disruptions to national security. The military has vowed to continue its fight against terrorism, regardless of the external forces attempting to destabilize Pakistan.
