Pakistan, Uzbekistan pledge to deepen strategic ties during CJCSC visit

Rawalpindi : On his official visit to Uzbekistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met with top Uzbek leadership, including President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Defence Minister Major General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, and National Security Council Secretary Lieutenant General Victor Makhmudov.

The meetings reflected a shared vision for deeper cooperation amid a shifting regional and global geopolitical climate. Discussions focused on expanding bilateral collaboration in defense, security, and regional connectivity, especially in infrastructure projects such as roads and railways.

General Mirza underscored the historical and cultural bonds between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, affirming Islamabad’s commitment to nurturing strategic ties that promote stability and economic progress across the region.

Uzbek leadership expressed admiration for the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their critical role and sacrifices in combating terrorism.

The visit is seen as a key step in reinforcing Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations and aligning mutual efforts for peace and strategic development in Central and South Asia.
