Rawalpindi : Three individuals, including a Pakistan Army Captain and a sepoy, were martyred in a snow slide during a snow clearance operation in Burzil Pass on the early morning of December 3, the military’s media wing reported on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was being carried out with heavy machinery to clear the Burzil Pass and enable the movement of military forces in the region.
The ISPR statement revealed that the snow clearance operation was led by Captain Asmad. At approximately 2 AM, while the operation was underway, a snow slide occurred, trapping Captain Asmad along with two soldiers and a civilian machine operator.
“Despite extensive efforts, all four individuals were eventually rescued from the snow. However, the condition of Captain Asmad, Sepoy Rizwan, and Machine Operator Essa worsened, and they were martyred,” the statement added.
The military’s media wing emphasized that these brave individuals made the ultimate sacrifice while leading a challenging operation in severe weather conditions, with the goal of facilitating the movement of military forces.
“Their sacrifice and unwavering commitment to duty exemplify the resolve of the Pakistan Armed Forces to defend the motherland, with every rank prepared to lay down their lives in service and devotion to the nation,” the ISPR concluded.
