Lakki Marwat :A deadly blast in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has resulted in the death of one person and left nine others injured, including two women. The attack targeted a vehicle carrying cement factory workers on Monday.
According to police reports, the explosion occurred on Begukhel Road near Nawarkhel Mor. The deceased victim has been identified as Fareedullah, while the injured individuals include Abdul Malik, Umar Khan, Masal Khan, Mir Ahmad, and Syed Jan, all residents of Begukhel village.
Rescue teams from 1122 quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to the City Hospital in Lakki Marwat. Those in critical condition were later transferred to Bannu for further medical treatment.
Authorities have indicated that this attack is part of a rising tide of violence aimed at law enforcement agencies, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in 2021.
This incident came just a day after four policemen were killed in separate attacks in Lakki Marwat and Bannu. In Sarai Naurang city, Lakki Marwat, unidentified gunmen opened fire on traffic police officers, resulting in the deaths of Traffic Police In-charge Naurang Jalal Khan, Constable Azizullah, and Constable Abdullah. The assailants escaped immediately after the attack.
In a separate incident in Bannu, Constable Rashid Khan was gunned down in Mandan while traveling to report for duty at the local police station, confirmed police sources.
