Procurement of JF-17 aircraft discussed during meeting between air Chief and Bangladeshi counterpart

Rawalpindi : A high-ranking defence delegation from Bangladesh, led by Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of the Bangladesh Air Force, held a meeting with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Pakistan Air Force, at the Air Headquarters in Islamabad.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the discussions focused on strengthening operational cooperation and enhancing institutional synergy between the two air forces. Key areas of emphasis included training programs, capacity building, and collaboration in aerospace technologies.

During the visit, the Bangladeshi Air Chief was honored with a Guard of Honour. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu briefed him on the Pakistan Air Force’s recent advancements and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Bangladesh Air Force through a comprehensive training program. This includes courses ranging from basic flying to specialized training at PAF institutions.

Additionally, Air Chief Sidhu assured the swift delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft to Bangladesh, along with a robust training and long-term support system.

The visiting Air Chief expressed admiration for the PAF’s operational excellence and combat capabilities, expressing interest in leveraging Pakistan’s expertise. He also sought support for the maintenance of Bangladesh’s aging fleet and the integration of advanced air defence radar systems to boost surveillance capabilities. Detailed discussions were held regarding the potential procurement of JF-17 Thunder aircraft for Bangladesh.

The delegation also visited several key PAF facilities, including the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre, PAF Cyber Command, and the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park. They were given an overview of Pakistan’s capabilities in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), cyber operations, space technologies, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems.

This visit further solidified the historical ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, underscoring both nations’ shared commitment to deepening defence cooperation and establishing a long-term strategic partnership.
