Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that the mastermind behind the recent Islamabad attack is affiliated with the banned terrorist group ISIS and is now in the custody of law enforcement agencies.
During a press conference, Naqvi expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident, stating that the attack has deeply shaken the entire nation. He offered condolences to the victims’ families and mentioned that every citizen is grieving the loss.
Naqvi revealed that the attack had been planned in Afghanistan, where the terrorist had received training before being brought to Pakistan. Authorities have gathered concrete evidence about the training and planning that took place in Afghanistan.
The Interior Minister confirmed that the mastermind and facilitators of the attack had been arrested, with multiple raids conducted in Peshawar and Nowshera. Tragically, a law enforcement officer from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was martyred, and several others were injured during the operation.
Naqvi emphasized the importance of community intelligence, stating, “We are in a state of war,” and urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities. He also disclosed that 21 terrorist organizations are currently operating from Afghanistan, although 99 attacks have been successfully thwarted.
In a significant development, Naqvi accused India of funding terrorism in Pakistan, claiming that terrorist financial support has been significantly increased since May, with terrorists now receiving between $500 to $1,500. He alleged that India is funding ISIS and other terrorist groups, particularly in Balochistan, where attacks have been ongoing.
Naqvi also pointed out that the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has been making videos of these attacks, which are being broadcast on Indian media.
The Interior Minister concluded by asserting that one day, the international community will stand up against India for its role in sponsoring terrorism, and India will eventually face global condemnation.
