Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have called on the public to switch off all non-essential lights for one hour tonight, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, in observance of Earth Hour.
President Zardari highlighted that Earth Hour is celebrated globally as a symbolic act emphasizing the importance of collective action to safeguard the environment. He noted that Pakistan is joining this worldwide initiative, underscoring the principle that every individual plays a role in reducing environmental damage and adopting sustainable daily practices.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Earth Hour serves as a timely reminder that protecting the planet is a shared responsibility, especially as environmental challenges intensify. He pointed out that while Pakistan contributes less than one percent to global emissions driving climate change, it remains among the countries most severely affected by its impacts.
Both leaders encouraged citizens to participate actively, reinforcing the message that small individual actions can contribute significantly to environmental conservation.
