Islamabad : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to maintain ongoing relief measures for economically vulnerable groups, considering the prevailing circumstances.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the government will extend the subsidy on motorcycles, public transport, and freight services for one more month beyond the previously announced timeframe.
The prime minister has instructed the concerned authorities to ensure that fares for passengers and transportation charges for goods remain unchanged, emphasizing the need to shield citizens from any additional financial burden.
He also highlighted the importance of establishing an effective and transparent monitoring mechanism so that relief benefits are properly delivered to eligible individuals without any leakage or misuse.
PM Shehbaz noted that the federal government, in coordination with provincial administrations, has already introduced a substantial nationwide relief package worth billions of rupees to support the public during challenging economic conditions.
Reaffirming his stance, he said that providing relief to the public remains the government’s top priority and assured that all possible resources will continue to be used for public welfare.
He further expressed optimism that the regional situation will improve soon, which may also help stabilize petroleum product prices in the near future.
