Islamabad : President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday extended greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia on the occasion of Victory Day.
According to a statement issued by the President Secretariat Media Wing, the president, in a message on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, said that the victory in the Great Patriotic War stands as a lasting reminder of the immense sacrifices made by the Russian nation in defending its homeland and in the global fight against fascism.
President Zardari said the historic achievement reflects the courage, resilience, and unwavering determination of the Russian people, while also acknowledging Russia’s ongoing contribution toward global peace, security, and stability.
He further stated that Pakistan places great importance on its relations with the Russian Federation and remains committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation for a fair, peaceful, and rules-based international order.
The president expressed optimism that the spirit of this historic victory would further enhance friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the two countries.
He also paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the fight against Nazism, including soldiers from the Indus Valley region who fought alongside Allied forces.
