Major relief for traders as Lahore markets allowed to open till 10pm

Lahore: The government has introduced an important relief measure for traders and the general public by extending the operating hours of all markets and bazaars across Lahore, allowing commercial activities to continue until 10pm.

The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa through a message posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that the decision has been taken on the repeated request of the business community.

As per the official update, the revised timings will remain applicable until June 1, after which the policy will be reassessed depending on ground conditions and feedback from stakeholders.

He noted that the step has been taken to strengthen economic activity in the city, provide support to traders, and offer added convenience to both shopkeepers and customers.

The deputy commissioner further said that longer business hours are expected to increase footfall in markets and help improve overall commercial performance in Lahore.

Relevant authorities have been directed to ensure full implementation of the new schedule across all marketplaces and shopping areas without delay.

Traders have been encouraged to cooperate with the administration and strictly follow the updated timing plan to maintain smooth business operations.

The move has received a positive response from sections of the trading community, who had long been demanding relaxed business hours to improve sales and reduce financial pressure.
