Turkish Land Forces Commander meets Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ

Rawalpindi : Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday, according to the military’s media wing.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the Turkish commander was welcomed with a Guard of Honour upon his arrival at GHQ, where a contingent of the Pakistan Army paid tribute to the visiting dignitary.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual professional interest, the prevailing regional security situation, and opportunities to further strengthen defence collaboration between Pakistan and Turkiye.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir underscored the longstanding historical, cultural, and strategic relationship between the two countries and expressed satisfaction over the growing defence partnership between their armed forces.

As part of his visit, General Tokel also visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he held talks with Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. The discussion focused on professional cooperation and the regional maritime security landscape.

The Turkish military commander later called on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters. The meeting reviewed bilateral military ties and other matters of professional significance.

According to ISPR, General Tokel praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and acknowledged their role in promoting peace and stability across the region.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to expanding defence cooperation and strengthening institutional ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Turkiye.
