Islamabad : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to multilateral cooperation, saying the country will continue to support the United Nations as the principal global forum for addressing international challenges.
The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with Macky Sall, a candidate for the post of United Nations Secretary-General. He expressed hope that the next UN leadership would remain committed to the organisation’s core mission by giving balanced attention to its three key pillars: international peace and security, sustainable development, and the protection of human rights.
Welcoming Macky Sall, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the principles and objectives enshrined in the UN Charter.
He underscored the importance of implementing United Nations Security Council resolutions in a consistent and impartial manner, adding that adherence to international law and global commitments is essential for achieving lasting peace, stability, and sustainable development worldwide.
Macky Sall appreciated Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to the United Nations and commended the country’s leadership for its constructive role in promoting international cooperation.
He also acknowledged Pakistan’s continued efforts to support global peace initiatives and its active participation in addressing major international issues.
